Global Capacities was initially established in 2008 to connect research initiatives across all social, economic, environmental and technological disciplines with the aim to maximise interdisciplinary multiplication of research findings and to ultimately enhance the body of knowledge for better scientific and industrial responses to the global challenges in the 21st century.

▍THE GLOBAL CAPACITIES THINK TANK
Global Capacities participants are guided by the overarching goal to develop technological answers to carrying capacity restrictions for the human population on earth. In population biology, carrying capacity of biological species in a given ecological environment is defined as the maximum population size that the environment can sustain indefinitely, given the food, habitat, water, and other necessities available. The human population is facing capacity restrictions which will gain in significance over the next decades. We believe in future technologies to hold answers to capacity restrictions, but research resources need to be aligned and targeted towards achieving maximized technological leverage and impact.
